Giants in Passage West! Headless Horses in Mallow! The Fairy people in Ballydehob! For Heritage Week 2017, 93.1 LifeFM is bringing you some of the weird and fantastic tales your grandparents would have told you. Magic Tales of Cork is a five episode series of 10 minute radio adaptations retelling some of the wonderful fairy tales of Cork’s past.  This radio series will play on 93.1 LifeFM from Monday the 21st of August to Friday the 25th at 8.40am, 1.20pm and 4.20pm.

Adapted from stories collected by 19th century Irish folklorist, Thomas Crofton Croker, this series will bring to a new audience some lesser known stories, such as “The Giant’s Steps”, “The Headless Horseman”, “Teigue of the Lee”, “Dreaming Tim Jarvis” and “Ned Sheehy’s Excuse”. During Heritage Week 2017, the station will be open for visitors between 10am to 4pm from the 21 to the 25 so they find out how the program got. For more information, visit www.heritageweek.ie
This drama is created by Cethan Leahy, whose radio programs The West Cork Ten, Across the Ocean in 18 Days: A True Adventure, The Price of Liberty and Tales from the Fairy Fort were aired on Cork’s 93.1 LifeFM.LifeFM have a strong history in producing compelling historical content including Thomas Kent: The Forgotten Patriot and 1916 News.
